ArmEngine Presents
The second meeting of a series of brainstorming sessions for business ideas was at Caltech, on April 8th, at 11 am. The guest speaker of the day was Zareh Baghdasarian who gave us a short talk about getting funds from venture capitalists.  Zareh is an investor who is looking for teams of engineers with good ideas to help them jump start their startups.

Zareh Baghdasarian autobiography:
Over a time span of 20 years I have built and managed significant size engineering teams developing pioneering data and telecommunications systems. Currently I am President, CEO of Tahoe Associates, a private investment entity, and active member and advisor  for Several High Technology startup Technologies. As a founder of the Iris Group, I directed at the CEO and board of directors level, the creation of multiple engineering teams, totaling
over 300 engineers, to develop optical products from the network core to the edge. I was active board members of Metera Networks, IRIS Labs, and Coree Networks.

I was one of the founders of Monterey Networks, Inc. pioneering industry's first wavelength router. By intelligently creating optical paths across the long-haul optical network, the wavelength router has taken the second major step in the evolution of optical networking beyond the deployment of point-to-point DWDM technologies. Cisco acquired Monterey in 1999 to fulfill its core optical networking strategy.

As the VP of engineering at Sourcecom, I delivered industries first DSLAM and related customer premises equipment. These systems products integrated custom ASICs, transmission technologies, large-scale modular hardware and sophisticated system software including ATM, Frame Relay, IP, transmission control and network management. Prior to Sourcecom, I was General Manager of Signaling Group at Ameritec where he managed both engineering and operational efforts of the company's monitoring and analysis products for SS7 and ISDN networks. At Tekelec, I directed a multi-discipline engineering department developing ATM, SMDS, LAN, Frame Relay and ISDN diagnostics
and test systems. These award winning products have sustained market leadership over many years.

As a lead software design engineer at Hewlett Packard (HP), I was one of the early designers of HP OPENVIEW, which as been the de facto standard for SNMP-based network management in the industry. I hold a Masters degree in Engineering Management from Santa Clara University, an Executive Management degree from UCLA Graduate School
of Management, and a BSEE from Villanova University.
