NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope will be marking its 3rd year in orbit in 2006 and it has
been an incredibly successful time for the last of NASA's Great Observatories. Spitzer
has trained its infrared eyes upon the near and the far, detecting for the very first time
light from a planet outside our solar system as well as detecting light from around black
holes and from objects in the very early universe. Come and hear what has been
discovered and what to look forward to in the remaining years of this 5 year mission. July
20th also happens to be the 37th anniversary of man's first landing on the moon!

Varoujan was born in Iran and came to the US in 1979 where he attended Chamlian
Armenian School and then Hoover High School. He received his undergraduate degree in
Astronomy from Caltech in 1992. Then he attended UCLA and received his MS and PhD
in Astronomy and Astrophysics in'94 and '98. Varoujan started at JPL in '98 and have
been associated primarily with the Spitzer project during that time.
